RE: it's days like these

Yet another beautiful day! I don't know what it is about the rain that makes me all happy inside! And the best thing to do on a rainy day is to head to the beach! Even if you stay in the car. I just love the way that everything is quiet and beautiful on rainy days. Everything is so much more peaceful. Bliss. So now I am back home after a very productive morning of meetings and walking in the rain and drinking coffee with Dad, and I'm in my uggies and grandpa jumper and am going to settle down with some Disney... Or Sister Act. Not sure yet. But either way it shall involve a cup of tea.
And just to up date what I haven't updated for AGES, some photos from the past few weeks. Mostly/only of the Eggchilada night (which I never explained; I made enchiladas but I made the wrappy thing out of a really thin omelette which had cheese and feta and stuff in it - they were amazing!).
 Awesome fridge of awesome!
Table/coffee table (I don't actually have a table in my room so we got to eat on our laps...) complete with candles, salad and birthday dvd's (Scrubs :) )
My room, ready and waiting for the Belated Birthday Boy.

Keep dry my chickens!

it's days like these

Today was the definition of perfect. I sat alone [in my very dark room : just the way I like it] watching movies, eating chocolate, drinking tea, snuggling into my jumper because of the amazingly gorgeous windy slighly cold day, and having a little teary whenever the movies got a little sad. Sometimes you just need a day to yourself for just that kind of thing. Perfection.

PS.

Just and update on my Mexican't post: they turned out amazing! Eggchalidas. Do it. Go! OMG. Yum. OK, enough one word sentences. And the best thing about the night? My brother was getting cranky because I was messging his wife and not him and when he got here he was all cute and cranky. Nawwwwww *cheek smoosh*.

ANNNND best news of all?!?!?!?! Moose and I are always saying the line "Where'd you go, oooh where'd you go" but can never rememeber what movie its from... Well last night I was watching a movie with some friends and I FOUND IT!!! Omg. Best moment of my life. I literally screamed out OMG and ran to get my phone and then ran out of the room giggling. Amazing. And so here is the clip.
BEST!

MexiCan't

Stupid gas bottle of stupidness. I'm cooking mexican for dinner tonight and I couldn't figure out why things didn't seem to be cooking properly... BECAUSE THE GAS BOTTLE RAN OUT OF GAS!!! Lame! SO LAME! Raaahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Cranky pants right now!!!!!!

Big bowl of fail

Have you ever wanted to work where there is a waterfall AND a moat?!?! Because Starbucks once again comes to the rescue of work related wants and needs! Good ol Bukky Bucks. What would we ever do without them?? Also, I'm loving the new stalker in at work who likes to sing to one of the girls and who actually said to her "you konw I'm not stalking you?" which CLEARLY means that he is!!!! And he looked like a crazy Einstein!!!!! But bogan. It was amazing. I laughed and cried at the same time. But on the inside. It was glorious!
Also, Miss Mooseface found a way to wear no pants to work while still being covered. Thus was invented the Starbucks apron overalls. I actually want to make some! I think they would be amazing!!!
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnndddddddddddddddddd I'm rambling because I stayed at work for WAY  too long (although I love my girls so I don't mind so much about the staying back part... XP) and I just realised that I'm soooo tired! Yay for tired! At least my headache is finally gone. Huzzah!
Oooooh AND tomorrow I'm heading off to get a Blue Card [that's right! Lock away your children before I am set upon them!] so that I can be stage manager for a show that is like a billion years away from my home. And I don't drive... And the bus timetable is telling me that via bus it's going to take nearly 2 HOURS!!! to get there. Wah. *Hopefully* someone that lives near me will also be doing the show. *Hopefully*.
Anyhowdy, I'm off to invent a way to make wraps for enchiladas [right spelling or no??] made out of eggs and not much else. Haha this could be interesting. Yay for surprise birthday dinner for my brother. Please if you have any [healthyish] suggestions for what to make for dinner/yums after dinner let me know! I've never really cooked for him before. Or wifey [his wife, not mine]. Except once, but they both helped. Technically...

Faces in Places

[technically some of these aren't a Face in a Place because we made them into faces, and the point of it is for a face to naturally appear... but eh... still fun right?!?!?]

Happy loaf of bread in a cup day!

That's right, it was St Paddy's Day and I didn't drink Guiness... I had Kilkenny instead. But it's an Irish beer so all is well with the world. Also I found out that I have a nerdy blog buddy! Hahaha ohhhh Miss Shortt you make my life amazing! Now I just have to remember what she called her blog and stalk her!
Ahhhh oh my gosh I'm going crazy! I totally can't sleep! Wahhhhhhh! Stupid beer. Stupid hot Gilhooleys! Oh wells.
I want to try making Guiness Cupcakes! Because THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!!!!

Mmmmkay. I think this crazy chicken should go to bed.

How depressing

I've been doing some research on Events Management courses at Uni and Tafe and I'm just becoming more and more depressed as I keep looking. Either the courses are super expensive (as in $28 000 for 3 years which means I'll be 26 before I'm finished), they are undergrad courses and I need postgrad, or they have stupid requirements to get in!! Ugh! It's just so frustrating!!! I want results and I want them now!!! Anyone in the Brisbane area who is in need of a event manager, or stage manager or just an extra worker for an event, then give me a yell, cuz I'm up for anything!

On a completly different note... a happy moon, a dog with a cigar, a marshmallow burnt caramel face man, a no whip Assrashachino, and all you need is love...

13.3.11

have you seen this man?

I'm watching Dr Who again. I'm such a Whonerd. Love it! Can you imagine if it was all real? If all these aliens and stuff started attacking earth? I mean, they don't really come to Australia, so we are pretty safe. Actually, have you ever noticed that nothing ever comes to Australia?! Godzilla -Tokyo. End of the world - America. Aliens - America. Zombies - England and Americ. Everything else - America. Seirously, I think we are sweet!

10.3.11

Abe Lincon???

OMG I forgot how much I am totally in love with Robin Hood Men in Tights! And then I remembered that Mel Brooks died a few years ago, which made me sad. But then happy again because I was watching Men in Tights! And this is possibly THE BEST! fight scene ever commited to film!!!!!!!!
I've been watching a lot of old movies and listening to a lot of old music recently and am totally loving it! I want more!! MORE!

Also - Man... White men can't jump.
haha. LOVE THSI MOVIE!!!!

Shrove!!!!

Well who would have thought that it was Shrove Tuesday?!!? Not that I need an excuse to have pancakes, I still like to have one! So tonight I made amazing pancakes!!! [well actually they were pikelets because I like them better... but they are basically the same thing...] And I'm going to share my recepie with you!!! Huzzah!!!!

1 cup self raising flour
1 tbs castar sugar
1 tbs brown sugar
3/4 cup milk
1 egg

- Preheat a frypan on medium heat (if you are using a gas stove like I did make sure it's on pretty much as low as you can get it otherwise it cooks too fast and burns... Which makes sad pancakes)
- In a bowl whisk egg and milk. Then whisk in sugars.
- Slowly whisk in SR flour.
- Melt some butter into the pan [I don't really like using butter or oil in my cooking so I just used some canola cooking spray which worked fine]
- Add about 1/4cup of the mixutre to the pan [you can comfortably fit about 2 pancakes into the pan, but it depends on the size you use]
- Cook for about 2-3mins or until bubbles start coming up and then flip and cook for another 2mins or until cooked through.
- Ta dahhhh! You have pancakes!!!!

So I like mine a little thicker than usual pancakes and I like to add a bit extra brown sugar, so in my first attempt I had put in a little too much milk, but then I added about 1cup more flour and about 1tbs more brown sugar.

So the ones on plate are my lame first attempt [hence the "first pancake" saying, because you always stuff the first one up] and the ones in the pan are the better second attempt which were amazing!!! I forgot to take a photo of the final product... because I ate it... And it was amazing!!!!

Also, Starbucks Queen St celebrated its 10th birthday and we had cake to celebrate! The bosses wife made this and it was AMAZING!
And then when I walked home it RAINED!!!! Like soooooo much! And I found that I could walk on water...
So how was your day???

Hehe. But really... That was a giant puddle and I was lucky that was Friday afternoon because my shoes were wet until Sunday. Poop.

Well thats about it for this evening. Happy Pancake Day AND Happy International Womens Day!!!!

ahhh!

Possibly the best thing I have ever found! I love cooking and this is updated ALL THE TIME! and I have gotten some really good ideas from it! Eeeep. I ended up making the best Cheesy Tomato Pasta from looking at these! love it!!!! Go there. Be inspired. www.foodgawker.com

AND the other thing that I love is www.postsecret.com because it kinda makes me feel like I'm not the only one that worries about odd things, I'm not the only one that is weird and that it is ok to have a secret sometimes, but there is also always someone to tell even if they have no idea who you are. This is updated every Sunday and it has become a ritual of mine to read it every week!

Love all

Sir

I saw this movie today. I'm in love. Please someone, somewhere, find me that dvd. I want it for my own!

Wish on a Star Tonight

I found this when looking through all my old files that I've had saved since highschool. I wrote it in 2006. Just so you know, my father is alive and kicking and this story is not true. Just ps. I remember posting this on Myspace when I first wrote it and some of my friends freaked out that my dad had died... I'm like "dudes you have met my dad, and the kid in this story is like 6years old!!!" oh well... Enjoy.

Wish on a Star Tonight

The other day I was in the park with my dog, Buttons.  I saw a father and his son sitting on a bench, and we sat on the grass nearby.  While Buttons played, I watched them.  At first they were at opposite ends of the bench, but then the boy slowly moved closer and closer to his father.  I watched as he snuggled in under his fathers arm, and very gradually, all the while with a beautiful smile on his face, he climbed onto his fathers lap.  The father put his arms around his son and they sat there together watching life go by and happy just because they were together.

For almost an hour they sat there enjoying being together, and for almost an hour I sat there and watched them, smiling.  How beautiful it is, the love between a father and his child.  And all the while I sat there wishing I could sit on my Dad’s knee too.  I wish I could climb back onto Dad’s lap and for him to hold me like that again.  But I’m much older now and I understand that I never will, let me tell you why.

One day, many years ago when I was a little girl, my Dad was taking me to the town Fair; we would go together every year.  We would always have fun going on all the rides and eating so many lollies that by the end of the day we were so exhausted and almost sick from too much sugar and fun.  But this year was different.  We walked to the Fair as we always did – down the road, round the corner, past Mrs Murphy’s shop and down the hill to the entrance gate.  That was the best Fair we had ever been to, better than all the rest.  There was no ride we didn’t go on, and there was no food stall that we did not visit.  But throughout the day Dad seemed to be getting slower, and we had to stop more often than usual for him to catch his breath. He told me it was his “old football knee” hurting and he just had to sit for a while, I didn’t know any better so I believed him.

After the fireworks show we started to head back home hand in hand.  We were crossing the road to Mrs Murphy’s shop when it happened.  Dad fell, clutching his chest, and he pulled me down with him.  All I remember is noise and light – cars screeching, beeping and people screaming.  Then everything went black.

When I opened my eyes again the noise and light were still there, but they were dim now.  All I could see was the dark sky – full of stars and endless.  Dad’s hand was still in mine, he squeezed it, I looked at him, and then we both looked back at the stars.  He asked me if I remembered when we used to lay on the grass at night and just stare at the stars.  Of course I remembered how could I forget?  Those were some of the best times we had together.  The noise and light seemed to change around us, but we didn’t pay attention to it, we just kept looking at the stars.  Then Dad turned to me and said “Wish on a star for me tonight sweetie, wish on a star for me tonight.”  He held my hand tight while he said that, but then he started to slip away, they were taking him away from me.  I tried to hold on, but they pulled us apart. And I sat there alone in a world of endless dark skies filled with stars, and I cried.

Dad never made it to the hospital that night; he died in the ambulance on the way.  At the time I didn’t understand why he had gone, why those people had taken us apart.  But now I understand that people have to leave you. They leave to make those remaining stronger people.  I’ll never forget those last words Dad said to me, “Wish on a star for me tonight sweetie, wish on a star for me tonight.”  And all these years later I still do that for him.  Tonight my wish was that he could be here just long enough for me to sit on his lap and hug him one last time.

Each time I look at the sky I know that he is there somewhere looking down at me and wishing the exact same thing.

love H xx

A letter to one who has no eyes

If you can’t see, then you can’t read these words I’m writing; and that is just the way I want it to be.  I have many things to say to you, but none of which you will ever know.  Thus you walk blindly through never knowing what it is that you do.  Words, the mere presence of them, can completely change everything and nothing depending on how you use them.
I try to use mine for good.  You keep testing me and my will is failing.

memories

Wow. What a day! So so SO exhausting! Dear coffee drinkers, go eff yourselves. Love the people that you yell at and still make your coffee.
But really. Stupidly busy. And exhausting. But for some reason I'm really missing the 2010 Cruise that I went on. It was a 11 night cruise to Tasmania, Melbourne, Sydney and back to Brisbane. I fully encourage to everyone to go on a cruise! Best fun (and value XD) ever!!!! AND becasue it's a stormy afternoon today, I'm feeling the need for some sunset photos from said cruise! Yess indeed. So here we go [I'll attempt to remember where all these were BUT I'm exhausted so I'm likely to have a mush brain and forget...]
armadilopig??? Not sure what this was, but it was in Hobart and it made for a great coffee stand for the WORLDS WORST COFFEE!!!! And that place charged us about $15 for that bit of poo and a crossiant! What a rip!
This was the first night on the cruise I believe, which would make this in the Moreton Bay kind of area. Was a lovely [albiet slightly rainy] day! But hey, the discovery of really strong $7 cocktails will do that do a girl!
Cobble road in Port Arthur. And yet another foot photo! Oh my gosh my cons are clean there! They are SO not that red anymore!
Leaving Port Arthur/working our way around to Hobart
Again, just leaving Port Arthur/going to Hobart.
 Going into Hobart.
Hobart provided us the best sunset!!!!!!
Same sunset, just not so zoomed up.
Drunk dancing on a ship that is constanly moving is a thrilling experience! LOL
 Opera House
 Sydney Harbour Bridge
yeah... clouds... not sure, but pretty sure this should be up with the Tasmania photos...
I loved the two different kinds of clouds in the sky this day!!!!
I just loved the random building in the water... Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background.

There you go my chickens. Hope you have a loverly evening.

daylily

I wasn't going to post any more today, but then I went out to my pool and saw this flower...
...it's a Daylily, which as the name suggests is a lily that only lasts one day. I just wanted to share its beauty.

an obsession

if i could be anyone ever, i would be her... *sigh*

time for tea

After a long day this is what I wish for...
Otherwise if I can't get these things I will settle for this table...
...and this sky...
Sadly that sky is in Hobart (that was the view we were greeted with when I was on a cruise last year), the table is not mine, nor are the things on it. But I want pretty flowers!!!! Wah. I'm going to settle for some afternoon snaps, a glass or two of wine and a swim. Bliss.
